Few Years back, When Chatter was introduced in Salesforce there were many critics on this product. Many Experienced analyst suggested that why do we need Social application inside enterprise application ?

Today, I can’t even imagine Salesforce without Chatter. Its more than just Social, Its all about Communication in Team, Visibility, Collaboration. Success of any product or team depends on how well they are connected ?

Chatter has gone beyond expectation of anyone and thanks to Marc Benioff and Team for such marvelous product. Today we have Publisher Actions, Field Tracking, Chatting, Notifications, Salesforce 1, Chatter REST API etc for Chatter.

How to Start with Chatter ?

There are many sources available on developer force website.

Introduction to Chatter

Chatter REST API Developer Guide

Chatter Publisher Action

Working with Chatter in Apex

Book – Developing Applications with Salesforce Chatter – By Rakesh and Sagar

Developing Applications with Salesforce Chatter

My Review on Book:

Authors did excellent job in gathering all the scattered Chatter related information at One place. This book has something for every level of Salesforce Professionals like Beginners, Business Analyst and Developer. Book is written in very good sequence and feels like you are reading a Novel, Very Interesting. However, I expected more topics (Like Few more Mobile example, More Clear example on OAuth) in this Book and few more examples of Chatter tags in Visualforce. What I didn’t liked about book is Code Formatting. It was very painful to go through Code in Book. Packt Publication should decide on formatting for Visualforce code. If there is new edition coming for this Book, I would expect 1 or 2 Chapters on Salesforce 1 Platform. It is must to have book in your bookshelf.

Buy this Book
