This error means we need to provide information about SSH key. it can be done by setting environment variable GIT_SSH.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are many different types of ssh tool that are being used like ssh provided by Git or\u00a0TortoisePlink.exe in my case, provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/others\/tips\/getting-started-with-git-and-bitbucket-in-5-minutes-with-tortoisegit\/\">Tortoise git<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We can use below command to set environment variable GIT_SSH<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: bash; title: ; notranslate\" title=\"\">\r\nset GIT_SSH=D:\\Program Files\\TortoiseGit\\bin\\TortoisePlink.exe\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>However, after this when I tried to run Git push command, received new error<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4758\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4758\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Git-Cannot-Spawn.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4758\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Git-Cannot-Spawn.png?resize=600%2C151&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Git Error - Cannot Spawn\" width=\"600\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Git-Cannot-Spawn.png?w=994&amp;ssl=1 994w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Git-Cannot-Spawn.png?resize=300%2C75&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Git-Cannot-Spawn.png?resize=624%2C157&amp;ssl=1 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Git Error &#8211; Cannot Spawn<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Error : cannot Spawn : No such file or directory<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was very tricky error to fix. However we have two solution for this error.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reason for this error was space in path for\u00a0TortoisePlink.exe.<\/p>\n<p>Either we can uninstall Git or TortoiseGit and then perform fresh install in folder without any space.<\/p>\n<p>Or, You can copy complete bin folder in path where there is no space.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Or, we can use Symbolic link feature of Windows where virtual folder (link) can point to actual folder. We can create Symbolic link for path without any space by using below command<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: bash; title: ; notranslate\" title=\"\">\r\n\r\nmklink \/J newFolderName OriginalFolderName\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4759\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4759\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Windows-Symbolic-Link-creation.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4759\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Windows-Symbolic-Link-creation.png?resize=600%2C103&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Windows Symbolic Link creation\" width=\"600\" height=\"103\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Windows-Symbolic-Link-creation.png?w=977&amp;ssl=1 977w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Windows-Symbolic-Link-creation.png?resize=300%2C51&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Windows-Symbolic-Link-creation.png?resize=624%2C107&amp;ssl=1 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4759\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Windows Symbolic Link creation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As shown in above image, new symbolic folder by name &#8220;SymbolicLink_TortoiseBin&#8221; created. we can then use below command to set GIT_SSH variable<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: bash; title: ; notranslate\" title=\"\">\r\n\r\nset GIT_SSH=D:\\SymbolicLink_TortoiseBin\\TortoisePlink.exe\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>As we can see in above command, we are using symbolic folder. After this we can execute Git push command without any issue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution 2 &#8211; Worked for me very well<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Set path of bin folder of tortoiseGit in PATH variable in Advance settings of WIndows. After setting bin folder path use below command to set GIT_SSH environment variable<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: bash; title: ; notranslate\" title=\"\">\r\n\r\nset GIT_SSH=TortoisePlink\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now, windows should be able to locate &#8220;TortoisePlink.exe&#8221; because PATH environment variable already has information till bin folder and we can access any file in bin folder directly from windows command window.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I hope this blog will help you to resolve this issue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">P.S. In this blog , I have referred mostly &#8220;TortoisePlink.exe&#8221; however same solution will work for SSH.exe available by default\u00a0when Git is installed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Error : No supported authentication methods available (server sent: publickey)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you are using some GUI to push changes then chances are very low that you will receive this error. However, if you are using command prompt, you may receive this error frequently. Reason for this error, we are using SSH protocol to connect to Git repository but SSH keys must be loaded into memory before making request so that it would be sent along with Git request. In my case, I use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chiark.greenend.org.uk\/~sgtatham\/putty\/download.html\">Pageant<\/a>, its SSH authentication agent for PuTTY, PSCP, PSFTP, and Plink. Before running push command, we need to start this application and load existing keys.
