There are two types of exception available in java:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Checked exception<\/li>\n
  2. Unchecked exception<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Checked exception:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Checked exception represents the invalid condition is program and must be declared by using keyword throws <\/strong>in method.<\/li>\n
    2. checked exception extends java.lang.Exception<\/a><\/strong> class.<\/li>\n
    3. IOException<\/a>, ClassNotFoundException<\/a>, SAXException <\/a>are the well known examples of checked exception.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      example:<\/p>\n

      \npublic void setDate() throws ShivaSoftException\n{\n   if(dateOfBirth < todaysDate)\n   {\n        throw new ShivaSoftException("Date of birth cannot be in future");\n   }\n}\n<\/pre>\n
      checked exception forces the calling method to be enclosed in try catch block<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
      Unchecked Exception:<\/strong><\/p>\n
        \n
      1. Unchecked exception represents the defect in programming logic and occurs at runtime. it does not forces the code to be enclosed in try catch block.<\/li>\n
      2. Unchecked Exception extends java.lang.RuntimeException<\/strong><\/a> class.<\/li>\n
      3. ArithmaticException<\/a>, NullPointerException<\/a>,\u00a0IndexOutOfBoundsException <\/a>are well known examples of Unchecked Exception.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        example:<\/p>\n
        \npublic void errorMethod()\n{\n   System.out.println(10\/0);\n}\n<\/pre>\n
        The above method will give the ArithematicException <\/strong>at runtime but did not force to be enclosed during compile time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
