{"id":949,"date":"2010-09-02T19:58:37","date_gmt":"2010-09-02T14:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/JitendraZaa.com\/blog\/?p=949"},"modified":"2010-09-02T19:58:37","modified_gmt":"2010-09-02T14:28:37","slug":"backup-the-salesforce-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/salesforce\/backup-the-salesforce-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Schedule export backup of your Salesforce Data &#8211; Interview Question"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Salesforce allows you to obtain a copy of all your data using the data export feature.\u00a0 You can generate backup files manually <strong>once every six days<\/strong> or schedule them to generate automatically at weekly or monthly intervals.\u00a0 The backup file will come to you in the form a zip file that contains all of your organization&#8217;s data in a set of CSV (comma-separated values) files.\u00a0 If you do not see the data export feature,\u00a0<strong>contact salesforce.com to have the Data Export Service activated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/SALESFORCE.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-354\" title=\"Salesforce\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/jitendrazaa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/SALESFORCE.png?ssl=1\" alt=\"Salesforce\" \/><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step by Step Instruction:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Setup &gt;Data Management &gt; Data Export &gt; Schedule Export.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select the desired encoding for your export file. Leaving the default is fine.<\/li>\n<li>Check the Include in export checkbox if you want to include attachments in the export (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Leave the default Replace carriage returns with spaces if you want your export files to have spaces instead of carriage returns.<\/li>\n<li>Select Weekly as the the frequency for the exports.<\/li>\n<li>Choose start and end dates.  Set the end date to sometime in the distant future such as 20 years from the begin date.<\/li>\n<li>Set the time of day for your scheduled export.  The export is put in a job queue and the exact time of the export will depend on the amount of activity in the queue.<\/li>\n<li>You can select the types of data to include in your export. It is best to include all data in your export file.  This will make sure all your organizations data is exported.<\/li>\n<li>Click Save.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Points to Remember:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Formula and roll-up summary fields are never included in exports.<\/li>\n<li>Articles are not  included from exports.<\/li>\n<li>The export notification email is sent to the email address on file for the user who created the scheduled export.  There is no way to indicate another email address.
